Dim the lights, sit back, and get yourself a whisky or a cigar, or even both; an ideal starting point for listening to this CD. A selection of soulful, bluesy performed songs by one of the most experienced voices of these days. Chris Farlowe once started his career with Chris And The Thunderbirds back in the early sixties. In 1966 he got a hit single with “Out Of Time”, the seventies were for Colloseum and Atomic Rooster, and in the eighties Chris appeared as a guest on Jimi Page’s “Outrider”.

“Farlowe That!” contains songs from Delbert Mc Clinton to (and with) Van Morrison; from bare voice and guitar easy listening, to ultimate blues with superb (slide) guitar and harp.

The female background vocals sometimes make it a bit too soulful, but that’s probably the only point of criticism for me. Listening to “Nina”, which has a “Still Got The Blues” atmosphere, makes me wonder what miracles this man could do together with Gary Moore. Chris Farlowe could (and should) be to the blues, what Otis Redding is to soul.
