One of the most interesting releases on the Release Entertainment label this year (even though, granted, there haven`t been that many) must be vidnaObmana. The name will probably just raise eyebrows with the average metalhead, but people who have crossed the boundaries towards electronic music might be familiar with this man.
Belgian-born, vidnaObmana has already released nearly three dozen albums and worked with many famous artists in the scene (Robert Rich being the other Release artist). His music incorporates various elements from other musical styles, so you`ll find yourself listening to what is basically ambient ethnic music. | |
The album is centered around Dante`s masterpiece the Divina Commedia (actually the chapter "Inferno"), and with the flutes and Eno`ish keyboard play you might indeed find Tremors to be the excellent soundtrack accompanying the book.
The main drawback with albums like these is that they`re not very fitted to be listened to actively. Passively, as in background-music, this album does exceptionally well and for that it deserves full credit. For a next release, a little more variation wouldn`t hurt. (Xander) |
