Hmm, this is a tough one. On the one hand, I like this debut album from this Finnish band. But on the other hand, it is so obvious that they are inspired by Dimmu Borgir. Every song on this record oozes this particular Dimmu Borgir atmosphere! It really is a nice record, and their songs are really enjoyable, but I cannot seem to find anything original about these guys.
The drums are very fast and tight, although they do not reach the level of geniality Nicholas Barker has. The guitars are well played and contain some really nice melodies. The keyboards only have a supporting role in Bloodrose’s music, in a way that reminds me of the “Enthrone Darkness Triumphant” album by, here they are again, Dimmu Borgir!
All songs are well played, and this stuff is actually quite good.

It is just not that original, not at all!
If you like Dimmu Borgir, especially their abovementioned album, then you should really like this.
I cannot help it, this disc has Dimmu Borgir written all over it. But I like it, and for this being their debut-album, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. For their next record, I expect something more mature. It is nice to produce a good black metal album, but it is much better to NOT be a copycat of your idols.
