A Rise To Power is Dungeon’s third album but the first one to be released in Europe as well. And rightfully so, as these Australians are right up there with their European counterparts Blind Guardian and Hammerfall. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Helloween are Dungeon’s biggest influences. There are many bands in this corner of the metal scene but I think Dungeon stands out. Their sound is more natural and less over produced than most European bands. | |
Dungeon is bombastic because of the music not because of the sound. The songs are true metal anthems and Lord Tim’s vocals are infectious. His and Stuart Marshall’s guitar work is impressive but not overdone. Great riffs, licks, solos and duels without showing off too much. According to the biography they are pretty big in Australia and Japan. If they are given the chance to tour Europe, especially the festivals, they can make it here as well. (Walter) |
