Fu Manchu’s first live album is also the first release on the band’s new label Steamhammer/SPV. Maybe we can look at this album as both the end of an era as the beginning of a new one. It all depends whether they will change their style, as have many bands after releasing a double live-album. We’ll see. For now Go For It…Live is a perfect best of album. It’s a fine cross section of old and new material and all the classics like “Evil Eye” and Blue Oyster Cult’s “Godzilla” are represented. | |
The sound on the album is absolutely great. I’m not a big fan of hard rock or metal live recordings but because Fu Manchu’s studio recordings are always raw and honest their live sound comes pretty close. And apart from this, they play pretty tight as well. Fu Manchu is a great live band and now they have an album to prove it. (Walter) |
