It takes six to make up Chimaira. Hailing from Cleveland USA, Pass Out Of Existence is their debut album (EP not included) and already they have been signed to major Roadrunner. Together with Ill Nino, Anyone and Dry Kill Logic they form a representation of what is going on in the current `new` metal scene. Where Ill Nino goes the Sepultura way and Dry Kill Logic the Korn way, Chimaira takes its influences from other sources. There is a very obvious amount of hardcore in their music (they`ve played with Hatebreed and Snapcase, so you might understand what I am talking about) but another name that keeps popping up when listening to Pass Out Of Existence is Meshuggah.

Especially some of the guitar/bass parts seem to have stepped off the Destroy Erase Improve-album. Unfortunatly, even though the songs are decent, none of the songs is really catching your notice. Most of the songs sound a lot alike, lacking individual identity, making listening to the album a bit difficult if done actively. Nevertheless, Chimaira proves to have a lot of certain skills. If they manage to get the songwritership a bit up, they might prove to be a worthy Roadrunner addition.
