If you think of Spain, you think of sun, beaches and kids who go crazy. You don’t really link Spain to metal. I know a few metal bands from Spain, the ‘legendary’ Baron Rojo, Tierra Santa and Hamlet. Three bands…Anyway, Hamlet is set to release their sixth album. A live album. After five studio albums they thought ‘well, let’s release a live album for all the fans’.
With all due respect, but why would anyone care for a live album of Hamlet? Maybe the fans in Spain, but I think it’s kind of strange. I own two Hamlet albums and sure it’s decent nu-metal. Comparable to Kill II This, Machine Head and Unjust a bit. But they sing in their own language, and that doesn’t contribute to the pleasure of listening. | |
Both songs are good songs, “Antes Y Despues” has some cool riffs. A bit like Deftones or Mahumodo (If anyone knows these guys). The song “Queda Mucho Por Hacen” reminds me of old school metal at times, but with a modern twist. Fans of nu-(and heavy) metal won’t be disappointed with Hamlet’s music. But the language… I mean, if they want to achieve a breakthrough (and I guess they would after releasing six albums) they really should consider to change the language. But, the music is pretty good and that’s why they get a 7.5 for score.
