One look at the song titles and the name of the album is explained. This CD contains fourteen tracks, which are dealing with seven maledictions (curses) and an equal number of benedictions (blessings). So I assume we’re dealing here with a genuine concept album! However with my copy didn’t come any lyrics, so I’m not quite sure about that.
I believe they call this gothic metal, but not entirely in the Within Temptation manner (as if they’ve invented this style, but that’s another case). Most riffs I heard a dozen times before, but Bloodflowerz have managed to give them a new identity. | |
Although this album has its exciting moments and good songs, fourteen tracks are just too much to keep me interested. Bloodflowerz are on their best with groovy tracks like “Dorian”, “Last Exit” and perhaps “Unperfectly Perfect”, in which their ‘gothic-ness’ is really justified (the wave samples in it!). On a whole this is enjoyable, but they could use some heavier vocals, not to mention some genuine death grunts. (Roelof) |
