Heavily influenced by Cathedral and St. Vitus these New York doomsters provide us with yet another convincing doom record. Orodruin is not too original, but then again, they never pretend to be. Both in sound and riffs they are on the metal side of doom metal. Their sound is big and dark, sometimes with a touch of Gothic. The vocals are a bit too ‘heavy metal’ in my humble opinion. | |
Singer Mike Puelo overacts a little. However, the chord and tempo changes are somewhat predictable the riffs make up quite a bit. There are some pretty big and groovy riffs on ‘Epicurean Mass’. And the production is outstanding; big and heavy without sounding overproduced. A welcome addition to the ever-growing doom scene. (Walter) |
