This is a new release, from a new band, but with not a single new song on it. The first ten songs on this CD are Misfits covers, while the last two were originally recorded by Danzig. Astro Zombies A.D. is formed by Right Direction-guitarist Maurice Gijsbers and brothers Boris and Igor Wouters, who are also known from various Dutch hardcore-bands . They go through a whole bunch of singers from the Dutch hardcore- and punk scene (like the singers from Discipline, Uppercut and De Heideroosjes), who each have a go at one or two Misfits classics. Among the song featured here we find ‘Astro Zombies’, ‘She’, ‘Teenagers From Mars’, ‘Where Eagles Dare’ and Danzig-tunes ‘Twist Of Cain’ and ‘Devil’s Plaything’, which are sung by Sectarian-vocalist Raoul. Most of the singers manage to give their own twist to the songs and, thank the Dark Lord for that, do not try to sound too much like Glenn Danzig himself.

Not only would that have turned this album into Misfits-karaoke, but the sound of Evil Elvis is just too special for anyone to reproduce. Thankfully, the band didn’t bring up any modern-day studio tricks, so the songs sound rather spontaneous have a tasty raw edge to them. I won’t say that the versions on ‘Mutants At Mosa Trajectum’ are better than the original songs (Since that would indeed by blasphemy...), but the Astro Zombies do them their fullest right on this shiny disc. On the other hand, the original songs are so fucking good that my mom could cover them and almost get away with it. You know what? I hereby officially declare the Misfits to be the best band ever. Period.
