Steve Diggle’s latest release might be a nice addition to the collections of sing-a-song rock fans. Nevertheless the average listener has to admit that the songs on “Some Reality” aren’t very original and lack excitement. The way that every single song seems to be based on a well known hit single is dominant. The critical listener will be annoyed by the fact that it is simply impossible to listen to the opening track “Just Because” without thinking of Crowded House and Van Dikhout. “Playing With Fire” is in my opinion an ode to REM, the reverberated vocals are clearly too heavy in the mix.

“Where You’re From” might be a nice track when you’ve never heard of the Golden Earring. It’s just impossible not to think of this band! Through the years your reviewer had the opportunity to listen to a lot of new releases. He did so, from beginning to the end. Nevertheless he didn’t make it through to the end of this album. After the first couple of tracks on 2Some Reality2 he got the picture and he didn’t like it.
