‘Land Of Fog’ is the perfect example of an album, of which I really don’t know what to think of. Some parts are really nice; sensitive clean vocals, raw screams and nice guitar riffs. The song ‘Tired Face’ or the titelsong ‘Land Of Fog’ do not sound bad. Unfortunately not all songs sound like those two. Some parts of the album, like the doomy intro of ‘Super-Sonic Blue Thunder’ that starts with really bad clean vocals, are really bad and due to this, the total picture that I have of this album is not that positive.
Ewigkeit is the solo project of Mr Fog (J. Fogarty). He already has had two releases, ‘Battle Furies’ and the ethereal ‘Starscape’. J. Fogarty has recorded ‘Land Of Fog’ during the year 2000-2001 and, according to himself, this is his best release ever. | |
In the information form I got about this band it is written that the style of this band is epic pagan folk metal. Maybe it’s my fault, but I do not hear many folk influences. I hear some keyboards and clean vocals, but that doesn’t mean that it is folk metal.
After I had listened to this album for quite a while I started to appreciate this album a bit more. That’s why I was positive about some songs in the beginning of this review. But I think that it will not be an album that I will listen to very often. Some parts sound good, but most songs mean nothing to me and some even have really irritating parts. Maybe this album has to grow a bit more on me to really be appreciated by me, but I have my doubts.
