“No 3” is, as the title predicts, the third album of Firebird. Ex Napalm Death and Carcass guitarist Bill Steer went back to the roots of rock in 1999 with the debut album and in 2001 followed with “Deluxe”. On these first two albums Steer received help from Leo Smee (Cathedral), and Ludwig Witt (Spiritual Beggars). The chosen path was an interpretation of the seventies, with influences of Hendrix, Cream, etc. “No 3” continues down this road, and although the production is not as massive as “Deluxe”, the performance is not as over the top technically, which makes it more listener friendly.

For this third album George Atlagic took care of the drums and Roger Nilsson the bass. With his new crew Steer manage to maintain the high technical standard, but above that, add also lots of ‘less is more’; intensity and tension in the song material. Firebird proves it: also in the seventies one can still find lots of inspiration for timeless music; from fragile melancholic, to driving, always grooving rock.
