Doc Holliday is one of the bands I lost track of, after the early eighties. Like many people I know, I only own the first two albums on vinyl. A happy re-acquaintance, finding out what happened after this period. The southern rock, in the vein of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Outlaws is still appealing. It’s nothing of a revolution; it’s just very good.
It’s surprising how they still get away with the over the top cliché lyrics (“Let It Ride”), but if done like this I guess, it’s allowed. | |
Bikers and country rock, with whiskey drowned vocals, and dirty, yet warm sounding guitars. Some great double guitar work (“Damn Yankees”), and beautiful laid back songs like “Love That Burns” (one of the two bonus tracks), which could have been taken from one of Gary Moore’s blues albums. This is a very nice album for people who lost track of Doc Holliday, or for people who are into high quality southern rock.
