One of the bands that will always be “true” to their roots is the Finish “cult” death band Impaled Nazarene. After touring 24 countries all over the world with bands as Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Emperor and many others Impaled found time to record their already 7th full length called “Absence of War does not mean peace. And even after 7 releases the band still shows progression. On their early releases like “Suomi Finland Perkele” Impaled choose for death with melody but know this seems to have been evolved in a more melody and death approach. And when you know that Anssi Kippo (Children of Bodom, Entwine) was responsible for the production some pieces of the puzzle fall on its place. Impaled certainly remembers the listener to the good old days with songs as “Humble Fuck of Death” or “Stratagem”, but on the other hand songs as “Prequel to Bleeding” and “Hardboiled and still Hellbound” even seemed to sound like Children of Bodom.

Especially the guitar parts. But I mean this in a positive way. Perhaps we are dealing with the Finnish death metal approach here. One thing’s for sure. I like this release. The combination of death, heavy and black metal certainly sounds really cool and the production also is crystal clear so all songs come to their right. Fans of this band certainly will like “Absence of War does not mean Peace” and they really should check this out. For people who don’t know this band this is the perfect opportunity to get to know this honest death metal act. And with their no bullshit but loud music mentality they will only gain more fans.
