Yeehaa. Custom Made Scare produce cowboyrockintruckerpunk or something like that. A nice blend of country-influenced punk rock with a rock and roll twist. Honking horns with, at times, the pedal to the metal ‘cause Custom Made Scare know where their roots lay.

Blasting of with the song “Big 10-4”, I am impressed with the intensity but most of all with the perfect mix of country and punk rock. Sounds absolutely natural. And why not, honky tonk’s star Dwight Yoakam used to open for The Dead Kennedy’s way back in the early eighties, in the seedy LA punk-scene. So sit back and buckle up, this is going to be one hell of a ride. Well, not exactly.

It takes the band 5 boring, average rock songs to deliver us at “Truckers”. With the pedal to the metal, we country rock on to “Speed Junkies Shotguns & Highways” and “45”. Yep, now, we’re talking.

As long as the band keeps spicing up their songs with country and Americana peppers, things just sound fabulous. Especially at the end of the album the band picks up speed. But as soon as they take the average rock turn, things just get kinda middle of the road, boring. This is one album that could have been so much better if the band only dared to concentrate on the country punk side of the coin and not on the rock side. A missed chance.
