There have always been good hardcore bands coming from our foggy little country. Think of Backfire!, Right Direction, Tech-9, MM and Homethrust for instance. Bands that have settled in the premier league of hardcore. But the new breed of hardcore bands are ready to compete. Bands like Maypole, Reckoning Force and No Turning Back are ready for a breakthrough.

No Turning Back recently released their first full length called Revenge Is A Right. After releasing a couple of EP’s, it’s time for a full length. The album consists of 11 songs filled with pure old school hardcore. Go back in time, back to the years when bands like Killing Time, Instead and Uniform Choice were kings. It sounds so… 80’s. This is also because of the production by Menno Bakker (what Dutch band has not worked with him yet?!).

It’s that old fashioned sound that you’ll find on albums of Agnostic Front, Sick of it All, old Ryker’s etc. Don’t get me wrong, I like this sound. However, some may not but that’s inherent to this type of music. All in all, a positive thing.

The band is angry and want to ventilate their anger. Songs like “We Hate You”, “Web Of Lies” and “Until I Die” are fine pieces of old school hardcore. The lyrics deal with broken relationships, liars, and feelings of hate about everything. Just down-to-earth lyrics, no mystics or philosophy, only the real deal.

I think No Turning Back has a bright future ahead. Let the touring begin, so they can convince many, many souls!
