We had to wait three years for this, but finally it’s here: the new Gorgoroth album! This CD should have been released much earlier, but Gorgoroth had to wait until screamer Gaahl was released from prison. Anyhow, the wait was well worth it! This is undoubtedly one of the best black metal releases of this year. Compared to their previous album Incipit Satan this material is not only more mature, it remains harsh, and the sound reverts to their cult album Antichrist at some points. Listen to “Procreating Satan” or “Blod Og Mine” and you’ll know what I mean.

In Nuclear Blast’s biography they mention the term “True Norwegian Black Metal”, which is probably more of a marketing term than anything else these days, but that’s exactly what it is. From CD cover to the last notes of “Of Ice And Movement”. Fans from the old days won’t be disappointed! The only thing that irritates me is the last track “Domine In Virtute Tua Laetabitur Rex”. It’s 53 seconds of really annoying and superfluous keyboard music. This 32 minute ‘black fucking metal’ masterpiece is bound to hit the stores on the 21st of July.
