Barros is the new project of Portuguese guitar player Paulo Barros, known from the band Tarantula. His brother Luis plays all the drums and José Baltazar plays the bass. Barros wanted to create a song-orientated album and went in search of a vocalist. He found Rafael Gubert, a talented Brazilian singer from the progressive metal act Akashic.

The album is a strongly produced straight on rocker. The music is characterized by a profound rhythm section with plenty of room for vocal melodies and some nice changes within the tracks.

Although Gubert has a very strong voice, he tends too go a little over the top at some points. He reminds me a bit of Steve Tyler in that way. The melodic rock on Gemini is interwoven with metal influences, which especially shows in the rhythm section. Another strong point of the album is the varied guitar work. The seventies rock ‘n roll is smoothly interchanged by strong metal riffs.
