Osmose Productions is trying to secure their future by signing some new bands that differ from the old profile of a typical Osmose band. Malmonde is neither raw black metal nor a filthy death/black metal outfit. What these Frenchmen offer on their first full-length for Osmose is electronic dark metal or “cyber metal”. Harsh guitars mixed with atmospheric keyboards, all driven by an electronic beat. On top of that, clear signing and a grunt that reminds strongly of George Oosthoek from the Dutch band Orphanage...
Malmonde is at its best during the up-tempo pieces. | |
The combination of metal and dance is then at its peak. Just listen to the track “C.Mal” and you know what I mean. Sadly there aren’t enough of these pieces to satisfy my needs. The more laid back parts are surely not boring but don’t have the power and impact the faster parts have. When the speed drops, so does my attention.
Still, this is in no way a bad release and I think they will gain enough attention to release a second album on Osmose because the music is slightly different than normal. (Roy) |
