With a splendid fusion of punk, reggae and hardcore, Bad Brains influenced a lot of bands with their infectious music. Not held back by the prejudices of music, Dr. Know, former jazz guitarist, formed the band in 1979. Together with HR (vocals), Daryl (bass) and Earl (drums) Dr. Know decided to push the musical boundaries a little bit further. From the early 80s to the late 90s, Bad Brains continued in various line-ups, but never made it to a bigger audience.
Bad Brains are without a doubt one of the most influential bands that the punk and hardcore scene has ever known. With albums such as "Bad Brains", "I Against I", "Rock For Light" and "Quickness", they delivered a handful of classic punk records. | |
Did I say punk? Well I definitely surpass their musical geniality with labelling their music as just punk. Bad Brains are also known for their stunning reggae songs. Many band members and record deals later the band still hasn`t received the mass attention they deserve, but songs like "I", "I Against I" and "Pay To Cum" definitely make a lot of hearts beat faster.
Altogether this "greatest riffs" album doesn`t bring you any new breed, but if you aren`t familiar with the band and their music, this a must whether you`re interested in punk, hardcore or reggae.
