It`s very hard to stay objective on the preview maxi from the Norwegian band Zeromancer, because I am a very big fan of their previous albums "Clone Your Lover" and "Eurotrash". The industrial sound of those albums, combining Nine Inch Nails with Stabbing Westward, yet confronting it with Seigmen, gave the band a headstart in their home country as well as in Germany. The new single "Famous Last Words" is a preview from the September 1st released third album "ZZYZX" and features two bonus tracks that are exclusively meant for this single.
It`s obvious that writer Kim Ljung has written this material where he stopped with his previous band Seigmen, and used his experiences with keyboard loops, violins and double voices on the title track as well. | |
The exclusive "Gone To Your Head" is somewhat misleading for a new fan; knowing this EBM-based poppy tune is of course typical for having Alex`s vocals, but could have been written by a dozen of other band as well. Not very original. The best song of this release is "New Madonna", a song with a very well-structured sound as well as strong guitars and vocals. A recommandable release for fans, and if you do not know this band; try listening and wait for "ZZYZX" to be released. (Eelco) |
