Is this really a 2003 release? These guys have done some digging in the past. Pity the ‘Happy Days’ series are not made anymore; The High Strung would have made a great house band for the Fonz and his bunch. There where bands like Weezer, who tried to sound like The Kinks, but made too many concessions and tried to be commercial, these guys succeed in authenticity and honesty.
Not bothering whether they are ‘hip’ or not, they produce some melancholic, yet feel good music with cynicism and humour in their songs. | |
I can imagine the equipment being almost authentic because of the atmosphere of this album. It makes you wish everything was released on vinyl again. The songs are well performed (listen to the splendid bass work on “Cocksure”), and varied within the genre. Nice one. (Cor) |
