U.S. eighties metal band Attika gained fame with their second 1993 album release “When Heroes Fall”. Five years earlier Prison Music released the self titled debut album, only available on cassette. Now, twenty five years later, Cult Metal Classics decided to re-issue this release on CD as well as limited edition LP. Their effort is rewarding. Listening to the songs on the album, the fact that a lot of the sounds on the record remind me of present day releases is striking.

It becomes clear why this self titled album received 4K in Karrang! when it was first released. I have no reference considering the sound quality on the original cassette, but the mix on the CD is amazingly warm. The re-issue of “Attika” proves that the album is timeless.
