My god, what did I request? This record came on our mailinglist mentioned as gothic metal. I, as a person who likes this genre in metal, thought I could give it a try, not knowing the band Artrosis at all. But what a disappointment this turned out to be…

Musically this is absolutely NOT metal, not at all! Yes, it has a guitar in it, but it’s definitely not metal. It’s more the darkwave/electro side of gothic. I, as a person who doesn’t like gothic that much (not at all actually…), didn’t quite know what to do with it. Then my girlfriend came to the rescue. She listens to gothic music, so she gave my some insight in this release.

We came to the conclusion that musicwise it’s not all that bad, but the female singer’s voice is really awful. She has this accent I can’t get used too. One or two songs I can handle, but when you listen to it for a whole record, it starts to get really annoying.

About the music itself I can’t say that much I’m afraid, because I’m not that familiar in the gothic scene. I can say that their music from time to time is pretty enjoyable, even for a metalhead. But that voice…

I would especially like to mention the last (bonus) track, which reminds me of film music, I really enjoyed that one! It is an instrumental, purely keyboard, piece of music which is really good, and seems to tell a story. Like I said, almost like a movie score. Summing it up, you already know what I’m going to say. For gothics this could be an album they can really enjoy, if they get used to her voice, or like it from the very first second. For metalheads, I’d like to make one thing clear: this is definitely not metal!!!!
