The Eyes Of The Shadow is the debut album of young Dutch band Silent Edge. And what a debut it is! They offer a form of symphonic progressive metal, in which the balance between the sympho and the prog side of their sound is just perfect. Ballads like “The Curse I Hold Within” and “Rebellion (The Awakening)” are more than beautiful, while tracks like the instrumental “Crusades” and the Children Of Bodom type “Savage Of Symphony” are really strong prog/sympho-metal songs! These guys know for sure how to handle their instruments, too bad they don’t play live that often. | |
Their guitarsound is very good, heavy but you can still hear all the details perfectly. I’m less charmed by the drumsound, it’s too clinical, but then again, it fits the music, so I guess that’s just a matter of opinion. There’s actually nothing more to tell: The Eyes Of The Shadow is just really good!!
