After the very well received “Live In Tokyo” album, the super tandem has released “II”. Hughes, ex Deep Purple, Gary Moore and Black Sabbath and Turner, ex Rainbow and Malmsteen, both have some experience, and the combination seems to work very well again.
A combination of straight rockers, early seventies like pop rockers, and an eastern influenced song, deliver the perfect balance. Some vocal lines on the edge, beautiful harmonies, and full force old fashioned howls from both vocalists, show they are still worthy. | |
Although the prominent announced guest appearances of Steve Vai, Chad Smith, and Jeff Kollman are very tasteful, they do no right to the more than effective guitar work of J.J. Marsh. Even my mother will not disapprove of every song on this album, but this is also for the good old rockers among us, something to listen to at the least. (Cor) |
