Every now and then you find a little gem of a record that proves music doesn’t need to be heavy or loud to make an impact. The Adjusters mix reggae with hip hop and soul. The band is very political and opposes the US’s unilateral and aggressive politics of the past few years. A fresh breath of air coming from the States I might say. The sound is very natural, open and clear. The combination of ‘real’ instruments like drums, guitar and upright bass with electronics works just fine, as the first mentioned have the upper hand.

The vocals could do with a little more power though. Politic lyrics need a little aggression. There are two covers on this record, “Gun” by Scott-Heron and “Master Blaster” by Stevie Wonder. The first is absolutely spot on and is very well arranged. “Master Blaster” is somewhat redundant I’m afraid. Apart from that there’s no weak song on this record. Let’s hope their strong political views won’t keep them from getting the attention they deserve.
