German folk rock band Schandmaul is one of those bands that gain so much when they play live. Hexenkessel is a well chosen name for their first live CD. Not only is this CD a collection of varying songs from the first three albums, while listening to this live registration you kind of get the feeling of being in a real witch’s cauldron. Just imagine what the real thing must be like. From the first tones of opening track “Sturmnacht” to the beautiful guitar melodies of the closing song “Sonnenstrahl”, it all sounds pretty good.

I’m usually not a big fan of German sung rock but Martin Ducksteins vocals are well worth listening to. This album can be best described as one big party with one or two quiet rest points. ”Hexenkessel” was also released on DVD. Hopefully we will be able to give you a review of this film registration later this month.
