Savage Or Grace: Sinister’s new album, is not quite what I expected it to be. Because I visited their listening session, I thought I had a pretty good impression of the album. But just one time listening to the record clearly wasn’t enough. After a few spins in my stereo Savage Or Grace, sadly enough, disappoints me. The sound of this album is not all that good, during the mix they seem to have taken the power out of it. The song material, although reminding me of the Cross The Styx era, is good, but not good enough. It’s better than their last album, ‘cause it’s more diverse and it has more groove. | |
But it doesn’t convince me. Also, the songs are played a bit sloppy, which does not do any good to the recording.
So, all in all, it’s just a nice death metal record, which fits perfectly as background music. It’s just not all that spectacular (except for the really cool and subtle artwork!). I’m sorry, but this is all I can make of it. There you have it, a rather short and mediocre review of a rather short and mediocre record.
