Here it is folks, the new Morbid Angel!! And my god, this record rules! The one thing you notice immediately when you listen to Heretic is that the sound has changed. Instead of the smoothened sound and inhuman tightness of Gateways To Annihilation, Heretic shows more of a live-sound due to the more natural drum sound and the rawer guitar sounds. The drums still sound as tight as a young girl’s pussy, but this time you can hear that Pete is actually playing them!

Musically this record returns, for a part, to a mix of Covenant and Blessed Are The Sick, but that could just be me. Actually you can’t compare this record, or any other Morbid Angel record for that matter, to a previous Morbid Angel recording, because each and every single time they release a new record you can definitely hear that it’s Morbid Angel, but at the same time they keep evolving and growing, which makes every album sound different from the one before.

So you just have to go listen to this one, I promise you, you won’t be disappointed!!

Further noticeable aspects are the guitar solo track “Born Again”, which is the actual original recording of the guitar solo in “Secured Limitations” (!!), and the first recorded drumsolo of Pete Sandoval!! This track (“Drum Check”) kicks major ass!!

Wrapping it all up, this is a record that bursts with groove, blastbeats and dissonant guitar harmonies. A definite must-have!!
