Whatever happened to the elves, witches and magicians? No fairytales on this new one of Subway To Sally, but dark and very serious stuff. With the overload of Lord Of The Rings lately (no offence meant), maybe these guys must have thought it was time for a change. Except for the lyrics, also the music has gone through a complete metamorphoses.
The folk influences, including the flutes and pipes have been reduced to a minimum, and replaced by a mechanical, marching sound with very heavy guitars and rougher vocals. | |
The album as a whole is going in the direction of Rammstein. The production is massive, which makes the final result very useful for dance parties. Quite some change in direction, but I’ve already seen the results of the new sound performed live; a jumping and bouncing crowd, plus the attraction of loads of gothic people who relate to the dark lyrics.
