Italy. Power metal. That’s the association I have with Italy and rock music. But there is more, as I discovered lately. Italians do know grunge and they do know nu-metal. B-Code is the living proof of that.

B-Code, founded in 2002 by 5 Italians (how surprising is that?). Each member probably has some cd’s at home of Alice in Chains, Godsmack or a random nu-metal cd. Personally, they remind me of our Dutch pride Frozen Sun (Most underrated band ever!) and also of the German band Thorn Eleven.

This four track cd is everything but original. With every riff, every vocal line and every drum pattern, that certain feeling crawls up my back, saying: “Where do I know this from?”. It’s that lack of originality that kills B-Code. Cause they can all play and the singer sure can sing some tones, but they should do more with it, instead of turning into a secondhand grunge/nu-metal band.
