In 2001, the German band Domain, although with a new line-up, made a comeback after being absent from the scene for 10 years. The Sixth Dimension is, as the title suggests, their sixth full length album and their third since their comeback. After having listened to this disc only once one can safely say that this band is still pretty much stuck in the eighties and strongly influenced by a band like Whitesnake for instance.
The songs are all pretty strong but terribly predictable and feature pretty decent melodic interludes. | |
It’s all there: heavy riffs, melodic keyboards, good high-pitched vocals and a healthy dose of sing-along choruses. Add to that a really fat production and you have a decent enough album. The special limited first edition contains a cover of Aerosmith’s “Rats In The Cellar” as well as a video clip of last year’s album opener “Charade”.
If you dig eighties melodic heavy metal and hard rock you might want to check this album out. You won’t hear anything new, that’s for certain, but at least you can relive the days of old. (Frank) |
