Hardcore and Metal. Two genres that have come closer to each other the past few years, thanks to Biohazard, Hatebreed, Slayer, Soilwork and Deftones. These bands have a perfect balance of hardcore and metal in their sound, and still have their own identity.

Koroded is searching for that. The band from Germany plays Nu-Metal on one hand, including catchy melodies and rhythmic drum patterns. On the other hand, they want to be too Metalcore, in the vein of Agnostic Front, Shai Hulud or Unearth. I get the feeling they’re still searching for a perfect sound.

However, this record isn’t bad at all. It’s something different than the 24.546 Nu-Metalbands that are terrorizing your local cd store right now. There is a lot of agression in this CD, something I miss with most Nu-Metalbands. I mean, it’s called Metal, and Metal is an agressive music style.

And it was not ment for some popmelodies that wouldn’t do bad in the national charts.

Koroded has two singers. Jan does the ‘clean’ singing, and sometimes reminds me of Boris (Ex-Frozen Sun, Epidemic) and the singer of Mournful. He has a separate manner of singing. A sort of hoarse voice. Andreas is a mix of Roger Miret (Agnostic Front) and Jamey Hasta (Hatebreed) and he ensures the agression in the music.

The music is a mix of Pantera, Unearth, Deftones and Machine Head. However I don’t know if Pantera fans will like this cd, but I can imagine Deftones and Machine Head fans will walk away with this record.

The Next Sensation? No, but a band with a large potential. If they keep making songs like ‘Vision 21’, ‘In My Eyes’ and ‘Move On’ they will gain a large fanbase. I wish them good luck with that.
