This is a message for all the future girlfriends of Dashboard Confessional’s lead singer/songwriter Chris Carrabba. Chris has a rough time dealing with break-ups and heartache. Treat him gently, like he will surely treat you. If you, however want to be immortalized in gripping, sensible lyrics then either dump Chris, betray him with his best friend, leave him scarred, mangled by the emotion of loss or love him like you have never loved anyone before. Because then the magic happens, one after another stunning track with gut wrenching lyrics and gripping melodies floats to the surface.

Chris is one of those artists who needs an emotional bumpy road to get the job done. His openness is as vulnerable as it is overwhelming, and at the end of the ride a bit too much. He forces you to evaluate your own romantic mishaps and highlights like he does his.

He does it however with humour though - and believe it or not, a certain dose of positivism -, if he wouldn’t, this would certainly be a soundtrack for suicide. Musically Dashboard Confessional wrap up Chris’s misery in love in effective, gripping melodic emopoprock songs, kinda reminding me a bit of Jonah Matranga’s Onelinedrawing, with more punch. Soft emo (did I just write that down?), cause emotionally it goes directly to the heart.

The band has all it takes to entice any emo kid out there: the right sound and songs, the right looks, the right attitude. However, if you want to rock out, A Mark…will not suffice. It lacks any edge. Meanwhile I would like to thank all the former and future girlfriends of Chris for a job well done. Keep up the good work. You too Chris.
