In Extremo stays true to the combination of mechanical metal and traditional folk instrument sounds, with some eighties wave influences. The skilled musicians know how to combine the old and new instruments in quality as well as in quantity. The lyrics are still in German, but given the large audience for this music in Germany and neighbouring countries, this shouldn’t be a problem for sales numbers.

The (hit single?) “Erdbeermund”, beautifully introduced by bagpipes, is a very heavy, yet swinging, and well chosen opening song for the CD. Also an alternative interpretation of the “Ave Maria” and the heaviest lullaby I have ever heard (“Mein Kind”) are on the album, which is well worth buying for anyone who’s into this genre.
