Well, what can I say about this album? Its just what it says on the cover; “where blues meets rock”. Provouge have released tracks from various artists on their label which have been released or are soon to be released. Tracks from such artists as Dave Hole and Steve Fister (sorry, had to mention these two together :-P ).
The tracks themselves are as varied as the names of the artists, from almost pure blues by Omar and the Howlers to funk-rock from Michael Lee Firkins. But I`m afraid I don`t like the mixture. The whole thing is a bit too generic. | |
None of the tracks really stand out, making them sound like songs you can hear on any soundtrack to an American trucker movie. After the CD finished I couldn`t really remember any songs. Now unless I`m suffering from short term memory loss that’s not a good sign for any kind of music, be it blues, rock, funk, disco or trip-hop.
So if easy listening blues rock is your thing then this might be worth a listen, otherwise the anti-mullets among us will stay well away from this one.
