Torture Killer started as a band in 2002 playing covers from mainly Obituary and Six Feet Under. All right, that’s cool. Which death metal head doesn’t like the aforementioned bands. And now in 2003 it’s time for their debut album “For Maggots to Devour”. And can you guess it right? Torture Killer has become a rip-off from mainly Six Feet Under.
The opening track “Flesh Breaks to Open Wounds” starts with the same riff as “The Enemy Inside” by SFU. And we can go on like this for a while. You can mainly hear the same riffs, breaks and rhythms as you can hear SFU perform in their music. | |
Main point is: Is that a problem? -Yes and no. Torture Killer has produced a fat mainly mid-tempo death release, only they seem too influenced. They really should try to get their own sound somehow. That doesn’t mean that songs as “Sadistic Violation”, “Fuck Them When They Bleed” and “Torture to Death” aren’t quality death songs. Cause they are. Productionally everything is very alright when you consider that this release was recorded in only 30 hours. (Teun) |
