Neurotic Records is a new label owned by Ruud Lemmen from Unique Leader Europe. On this label he intends to release records which aren`t exactly U.L. type material (no brutal U.S. death metal) but are surely interesting enough to release.

Corpus Mortale is a band from Denmark, a country hiding in the background when people speak of Scandinavian metal. Because of some strange reason the amount of (good) releases always stays behind of the other three (Norway, Sweden and Finland). From personal knowledge I only know Exmortem (and of course King Diamond) but Corpus Mortale proves that there`s more talent in Denmark.

With Lewd Demeanor is an odd mix of various death metal styles; the first three tracks are a blend of European and U.S. death metal, not too special but not bad either. Next is an instrumental piece which is much more melodic and slower than the rest of the cd.

It’s a beautiful piece of music but out of place next to the other tracks.

Track 5, “Sombre And Vile” shows some nice guitar solos and convinces more than the fist three tracks. The following track “Lucid Dreaming” is a more epic piece which takes its time to build up to an exciting ending. The last track pays homage to the early death/trash metal with those typical raspy grunts you find in, for example, early Thanatos.

So, to sum it up; Corpus Mortale delivers not too original death metal which is adequately played. For the next release however, it would be better if they chose their own style, like for instance the more slower tracks, which sound really well. And last but not least, compliments for the beautiful artwork.
