The Nu-Metal scene has become more and more saturated over the last few years, and most acts that started out in this style have either evolved into their own style, or quit. Still every few months a new band emerges, wanting to ride the Nu-wave to success and stardom. The latest contender is called Adema. Will they be able to reach the shores of success, or drown in the seas of mediocrity?

If your look at Adema’s background, it’s not hard to see why the band chose this style of music; they hail from Bakersfield, California (just like Korn and Orgy), and most of the guys have played in some of the bands that formed the birth of Nu-Metal, like SexArt, Juice and Videodrone. But most striking is the fact that singer Mark Chavez is the half-brother of Jonathan Davis, leadsinger of Korn.

Although having a famous relative can really give your career a push, you are also subject to comparison; especially when you mention him excessively in your biography. And that’s where the band starts to loose their balance. Because they DO sound like a mixture of Korn (vocals) and Orgy. A lot! In fact, they should consider changing their name to ‘Korgy’ or something. It’s not that they write bad songs, but there isn’t a spark of originality anywhere; they’re just the next Nu-metal clone.

Can’t wait for the new Korn or Orgy album to come out? Buy Adema; you probably won’t even hear the difference…
