Motorhead is still very much alive, still touring, and still “the loudest band on earth”. After having seen the band several times, also this year, I can only confirm this statement. Allthough I can only admire Motorhead for staying true to their rock ‘n roll, and still put out new high quality albums, the biggest compliment here goes out to the production and technicians who put together this live album. It must be a hell of a job to find your way in the wall of sound, that cacophony of noise, these guys deliver on stage. It’s all assembled in recognisable songs, with the true power and atmosphere of a live show.
The (distorted) bass is reduced to an acceptable level in order to compete with the guitar sound, and Lemmy’s mumbling humour can still be heard. | |
The whole concert of the Brixton Academy show in London is on this two CD set, with a nice overview on a 25 year repertoire. Even the classic “Dead Man Tell No Tales” announced as “this one is older than you: Dead Man Smell Toe Nails”, is on it, although I still prefer the “Lochem Pop ‘80” version on vinyl. With several guests ( Eddie Clark, Whitfield Crane and Doro), and finally a good registration of a whole Motorhead show, this is a well performed anniversary.
