Zubrowska from Toulouse, France is a young band with the intention of mixing the best elements of death metal and metalcore. This results in 11 songs (and an intro) full of strange structures, a lot of breaks, pumping drums and devastating riffs. They see bands like Cryptopsy, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Dying Fetus, Converge and Cephalic Carnage as inspiration and that’s not far from the truth. One problem with playing this kind of music is that the songs are stuffed with riffs. And some songs on this cd are just too stuffed. Some people will call that variation and diversity and therefore good.

But as always, too much is definitely overkill.
Fans of aforementioned bands will definitely enjoy One On Six, personally I think it should be far more catchy. But on the other hand, there are enough songs here that convince me. And their musical capacity is absolutely above average. Last song “When Satan Plays Disco, People Die” is truly hilarious and has one of the best grindriffs that I heard this year. Simple, but devastating, and that’s the way it should be (but who am I?).
