I’m not a huge fan of The Who. As a matter of fact, Tommy is their only cd in my rather large cd- collection. So trust me, I’m not prejudiced when I tell you that The Vegas Job is the ultimate rock DVD. This release features an integral registration of the legendary reunion concert The Who played on October 29th 1999 in the capital of amusement: Las Vegas. The band couldn’t have picked a better place.
Everything about this DVD just goes beyond words. The pictures, the colors and of course the music: it is all great. It’s incredible to see these guys giving absolutely everything. These musicians will probably never grow old. The disc features almost all of the bands greatest hits from “I Can’t Explain” to “Pinball Wizard”, from “My Wife” to “My Generation”. | |
The music sounds, as mentioned, very good. The mix in particular is very well balanced. The roaring of the crowd during and between songs gives the viewer an impression of the actual atmosphere. I wish I had been there...
The DVD also features interviews with Roger Daltrey and John Entwistle. Fun to watch is the so called ‘Pixelton story’. Pixelton is an internet company that should have broadcasted the concert live through the internet. This turned out to be one of the biggest internet scams ever. The DVD features Dolby Digital 2.0/5.1 and DTS. The best bonus feature however is the ‘Direct Play’ button.
