I admire punkrock bands who still have the audacity to play punkrock. I mean, if there’s one rehashed style of music it must be punkrock. So I admire Belgian quartet Sixtoys for having the guts to play the music they love. You can always play emo later, right?

After two demos, `Copy Paste & Repeat` is the band’s debut full-length album. One to be proud of: catchy melodies, strong, sturdy and powerful production, and a very fresh approach to vocal harmonies with both male and female vocals. But there’s more. The band is not afraid to add certain musical fragments to the songs that give them a brisk, even original vibe.

With “Break Out” as a sure single candidate. This clearly outs the band a step ahead of many other punkrock outfits currently out there.

Sixtoys is burdened with the fact that they’ll have to do it all themselves. No slipstream succes they can benefit of. With garage rock and emo-post-hardcore-mathcore type of stuff filling the zines, Sixtoys is an island in a sea of White Stripes and Dillinger Escape Plans. If you still have a heart for good old punkrock check this band out. Go to www.sixtoys.be for more info.
