Surprisingly I received Morgana-X’s demo and I didn’t expect much of it. This turned out to be a misconception. Wonderful melodies, great riffs and solo’s and a mystical keyboard sound. Bass and drums ensure a solid foundation. A fine piece of work.

The first song is called “The Rider”. It immediately sets the tone of this 19-minute long demo. It took me a while to get used to the vocals, but after listening a couple of times, I have to admit that this voice is truly a part of the atmosphere on this ‘wall of sound’. The music is powerful and intense, as you can hear in the song “Eternal Life”.

“Bad Religion” is the most progressive song and reminds me of Rush. The fourth song is called “A Path Of Daggers”, a beautiful song as well.

After enjoying this demo I have to admit that Morgana-X is one of the top bands of the Dutch progrock/metal scene. Pity this demo only lasts 19 minutes. I am really looking forward to their first full length album. If they manage to write as great a songs as the ones on this demo, they have a good chance for an international career. Morgana-X can without a doubt compete with foreign bands. Good luck.
