Killaman is the new band of ex-Murder Corporation members Rune, Johan and Rikard.
Their self-titled debut is a furious piece of death/thrash metal that will surely snap some necks. The songs are really aggressive and not too difficult to understand when you listen to them for the first time. As a matter of fact they sound like an old school death metal band on speed. The simple but oh so effective riffs, the choruses and the chunky bass clearly remind of this style. To put it even more bluntly; if Chris Barnes (Six Feet Under) would sniff coke instead of smoke enormous amounts of pot, he would sound like Rune.
The Killaman members are also part of more well known bands like Deranged and Reclusion, and I have the feeling they consider Killaman really as a side project. | |
They recorded the album in a couple of days, with huge quantities of beer and whisky, at least, that`s the impression I get when I listen to songs like “No Hope, No Fear” and “Nihilist And Proud”.
To say Killaman is an original band would be too far from the truth, but they sound like they had some fun recording it and live they will create a serious pit for sure.
Comparable bands are, to a certain extent The Haunted and The Crown but Killaman is more death metal with a thrash twist instead of the other way around. This is food for thrash or death metal lovers and if you like both this is a must have.
