Trolleycore is sort of a project, initiated by Trolleypop. This project was started by the famous Underground venue Goudvishal in Arnhem.
The Bio States: ‘This project aims to promote bands from the Arnhem Underground scene, in this case Hardcore bands’. Well, that’s word for word correct.
There are four bands on this cd. The first one is LABRAT. There is also an English formation that’s called labrat and are making relapse-core, however because of the fact that Arnhem is nog situated in England, this LABRAT is different from the other.
The Dutch Labrat has some direct links to bands like Merauder, All Out War and Arkangel, mixed with a Biohazard Groove. In your face music with an aggressive voice goes hand in hand with groovy passages. The groove is a main factor in the music of Labrat. Cool music with some potential, a good singer (however the singing parts are sometimes too raw).
EYEPATCH are taking it down to the old school hardcore with a modern twist. Sort of a mix between Gorilla biscuits and Killswitch Engage? Sort of, only I think most of the Killswitch fans won’t get into this cd. But some of these songs, like ‘Questionmark’ has some great guitar riffs, that reminds me sometimes of the swedish metal scene. | |
Follow-up song ‘Omaha beach’ reminds me of remembering never. Great.
Another band with potential.
CURB Is the next band. And the first song ‘released from the thornz’ doesn’t do anything with me. Just some hard/metalcore song with technical parts. ‘Mankind’is a better song with some cool raps in it. A little bit of nu-metal vibe is coming up in this song. A lesson for the singer: it is not recommendable to sing clean, like you do do in the middle of the song `Mankind`.
The third song is a combination of those two songs. I don’t know. I think they should choose a style, it looks like they still don’t know what to play: nu –metal, hardcore, metalcore etc. They sometimes reminds me of Swift by the way, who are dealing with the same problem.
And last but not least: FIGHT ANOTHER DAY. Ha! Refreshing! Some old school beats. At least, that’s what I thought. But it gets slower as the song continues.
The next song is faster, old school with an metallic edge. I don’t know why, but they remind me of Chain Of Strength with more brutal riffs.
Of course, not as brilliant as the Chain. I don’t know about this band. The songs just will not get into me. Too bad.
