Goretrade is formed in 2000 by Internal Suffering frontman Andres Garcia with the goal of creating some of the filthiest and sickest U.S. death metal possible. After 2 split cd’s (one with Corpsefucking Art and one with Carnal) they inked a deal with Repulse Records for a full length. Unfortunately Repulse ended its activities due to bankruptcy and the deal was off. From Beyond Production, a sub label of Displeased Records took the chance to sign Goretrade and eventually a full length was recorded. For this they left their home country Colombia and record Ritual Of Flesh in New York. No better way to record an US death metal record than in the U.S. of A., right?
Goretrade deliver what they promise; brutal, filthy death metal with an old school touch in the vein of Devourment, Deeds Of Flesh and, not surprisingly, Internal Suffering. | |
It’s not as hyper fast as most brutal bands nowadays but of course there are plenty of moments where they push the pedal to the metal and drummer Grindersson sure knows to maintain a blast beat. The songs are nicely constructed with a good blend of fast and slow passages, great riffing, the occasional solo and the very strong guttural throat of Cesar Vera.
The production is something not everyone will enjoy. Almost every aspect of it is good, the guitars sound right, the bass sounds filthy, the mixing is decent but one thing that even I noticed is that the snare drum sounds like it was made from plastic or something like that. The snare makes a “ploingggg” sound snares aren’t supposed to make. This is just something that some people will very irritating. This is however the only weak point of this otherwise very strong album.
