After being treated to some very interesting death metal releases in 2003, 2004 is beginning well with a new package from Unique Leader. As you all may or may not know I’m a lover of nearly every UL-release of 2003, so I was quite anxious to hear what Gorgasm had to offer. They didn’t let me down: this is the next US brutal death metal release in a never-ending row, featuring intense blasting drums, furious guitars and three mutilated boars on vocals.

Gorgasm are masters in what they do. Every single track is a statement of their confidence in their own abilities. One could complain that the originality factor is quite low on “Masticate To Dominate” and then they are partially right. But on the other hand, drinking beer with a bunch of friends isn’t that original either and you never hear someone complaining about that.

The sheer intensity and ferocity Gorgasm displays on “Masticate To Dominate” is enough to keep even the spoiled death metal maniac satisfied.

Lyrically they are quite consistent in their themes. In 10 tracks the same number of women are brutally raped, tortured, maimed, killed, cut to pieces and then raped again. To quote another band, they’re all “gagged, shagged, bodybagged”.*

The lyrics combined with the revolting artwork by John Zig are a guarantee to get banned in some countries which is a thing Gorgasm will only find amusing.
